Getting the right people together

October 31, 2018 @ 9:30 am - 1:00 pm

Free

Interface is going on the road to showcase how collaborating with Scotland’s world-class universities and research institutes can encourage, initiate and drive innovation amongst businesses. These partnerships can often lead to new products, services and process; with businesses recording reduced operating costs, increased productivity, profits, export, turnover, and new or safeguarded employment.

Interface gets the right people together to make the greatest impacts!

This event is one of a series that is being held around Scotland this autumn as part of The Scottish Knowledge Exchange Awards. The Awards, which will take place in February 2019, will celebrate the most innovative and successful business-academic collaborations that are happening now across Scotland.

Join us to hear about some of these exciting projects and learn from some of our successful collaborators:

Fiona van Aswegen, Managing Director of Kranôg Ltd – An exciting business was born after a successful collaboration with Edinburgh Napier University. Fiona will share the business’s journey from the first step of a feasibility study to the unique off-grid homes being built on a Dunkeld estate.

Interface assisted snap40 by matching them with academic expertise in the University of the West of Scotland (UWS) when they sought to find a method of incorporating an ultrasound measurement into the device to non-invasively monitor patient hydration levels. The wearable device is now on permanent display at the V&A Dundee.

We have built a great relationship with UWS across two projects so far and look forward to continuing to build this relationship in the future. We have gained access to world-class research expertise and are now looking at the potential to integrate a brand new, completely novel sensor into our device that will have real benefits for patients, health services and snap40. said Chris McCann, CEO, snap40.

Moock Environmental Solutions Ltd and University of Dundee will talk about their collaborative project to recycle print toner powder by making it soluble for use in the art and building industries and animal medical treatments. They were winners of last year’s Social and Environmental Impact award.

Martin Layton of the Scottish Enterprise IP Advisory Service will discuss how intellectual property (IP) can underpin your business offering and the support available to help your IP Strategy development and business growth plan.

The event is free to attend. Registration will be from 9:30am with the event starting at 10:00am. The event will end at 12 noon, with a networking lunch until 1:00pm.

This event is being held In partnership with the Elevator Centre for Entrepreneurship and Marks & Clerk.
