Perth offers excellent opportunities for investors. The City Region’s economic activity rate outperforms the Scottish average. The current unemployment rate for Perth and Kinross is 2.4%, well below the Scottish average of 4.1%, and its five-year business survival rate is higher than both the Scottish and UK averages.

  •  6,255 businesses turn over £9.99bn, almost a third more than the £7.62bn of an average Scottish local authority area business base.
  •  Perth’s workforce has the joint highest percentage of graduates of any Scottish city – at 61.5%.
  •  Seven of the UK’s top 50 universities, including three in the world’s top 200 list, are within a one hour drive of the city.

Helping to sustain and develop strong economic prospects for the future is the fastest growing school age population in Scotland.

City expansion

Perth & Kinross Council’s vision is to develop the Perth City Region as the most desirable place in Scotland in which to live, work, visit and invest.

Among Scotland’s seven cities, Perth is second only to Aberdeen in terms of the percentage of residents working in the private sector and the area enjoys an employment rate of 74.5% – the second highest in Scotland.
