The best new clinic in Scotland

It’s official: Tay Medispa in Perth has been named the Best New Clinic, gaining the recognition at The Scottish Medical Cosmetic Awards in April.

Bringing this prestigious award back to Perth has been the icing on the cake for Perth’s first purpose-built Aesthetic clinic offering a doctor-led service.

The business, created by husband and wife Simon Langford and Dr Julia Langford, launched in November 2016. “Julia is a partner in a GP practice in Dundee, and has been providing facial aesthetic treatments in Perthshire since 2009. Health Improvement Scotland brought in new clinic legislation, which promotes person-centred and safe care. That gave us the impetus to form Tay Medispa,” explains Simon.

“We knew clients would often have to travel widely for services, and the vision was to bring together the best professionals in a single hub, so clients could access multi-disciplinary treatments under one roof.”

The appeal of the concept quickly proved itself. “We launched with a team of five, but now have 20 professionals working with us across healthcare, aesthetics, wellbeing and holistic therapies.

“From the start, we offered clients the ability to book for any treatments online, through an intuitive website and our free app. We now see more than 500 clients each month.”

The Centre has seven clinical suites, after the building was completely refurbished over a six-month period prior to opening.

“The excellent working environment has helped us attract a team of the highest calibre,” says Simon. “We also created a relaxing, calming space for clients, combining natural materials – including furniture created specifically for us by a local firm. Our living moss wall in reception always makes a great first impression!

“We believe our exceptional client experience is the reason behind our high number of cross-over bookings and referral rate.”

All injectable treatments, including Botox, Restylane and Dermal Fillers, are carried out by Dr Langford. “We feel clients receive excellent continuity of care as a result of her being our sole injector,” adds Simon.

“We always intended to create a complete end-to-end experience, as we knew this would create the building blocks for a successful business. After extensive research, we therefore became the first company in Scotland to offer treatments from Venus Versa, an advanced multi-treatment platform. It allows us to perform non-surgical face lifts, wrinkle reduction, skin resurfacing and rejuvenation, body contouring, cellulite reduction and permanent hair removal.

“It’s been very satisfying to provide clients with a broad range of options, to suit their personal preference regarding stand-alone treatments or courses, invasive or non-invasive treatments, and their budget.

“We now have a team of five skin therapists working alongside Julia, to address specific skin concerns and formulate personalised treatment plans. Our cosmeceutical product brands, iS Clinical and ZO Skin Health, translate nicely into individual take-home products and skin kits, providing a great partner for all our treatments.”

Tay Multispa’s multi-disciplinary team is experienced in taking clients through a tailored consultation process, and meet monthly to discuss new trends and treatments. “We keep abreast of technological advances and are always open to adding services that can enhance our repertoire; where they are right for the client, the clinic and the Tay Medispa brand.”

Medispa’s broader treatments span healthcare, sports medicine, holistic, massage and beauty services. “The main challenge we’ve faced is in marketing to such a wide demographic, to raise brand awareness. It’s been fantastic to see how the business has grown,” adds Simon.

“We set out to offer something that Perth had not seen before, and we believe we have achieved that. The success of Medispa reflects our ethics, our five star service, and the fact that we put our clients at the heart of everything we do.”
