New Perth City and Towns Website to Boost Business, Tourism and Investment
Funded by Perth and Kinross Council, the new Perth City and Towns website is the local authority's principal destination and visitor-facing platform, promoting the city and surrounding towns to residents, day visitors and tourists from across the region, wider Scotland and beyond.
As the digital front door to Perth and Kinross, the website plays a vital role in supporting the visitor economy, encouraging footfall and helping people discover everything the area has to offer.
Built around the area's key strengths and highlights, the new website showcases the character, creativity and natural beauty that make Perth and Kinross unique.
More than 500 businesses are already listed on the new Directory, with retailers, cafés, restaurants and visitor attractions able to manage their own profiles free of charge. A new self-service events section will also allow organisations and venues to keep visitors up to date with what's happening across the region. Readymade itineraries, regional highlights and practical visitor information complete the experience, while topical blogs will provide a steady stream of fresh inspiration and seasonal content throughout the year.
Councillor Grant Laing, Convener of Economy and Infrastructure, commented, “Our city and towns have a fantastic story to tell, and this new website gives us a powerful platform to tell it.
“By providing a free, easy-to-use platform for businesses, improving how people discover Perth and Kinross online, and helping visitors plan their journeys, we are investing in our local economy and our communities, supporting footfall, encouraging longer stays and creating opportunities for businesses to thrive.
“In an increasingly competitive world, places that tell their story well are the places that attract visitors, support local businesses and encourage investment. The new website creates a single digital front door for Perth and Kinross, helping people discover everything from cultural experiences and outdoor adventures to independent shops, restaurants and events."
Telling Our Story
Perth City and Towns is built around a simple but powerful idea: creating a place where stories, nature and culture meet.
As outlined in the Perth City and Towns Story of Place narrative, Perth and Kinross is a place where heritage and imagination shape extraordinary everyday experiences. It is a place where community and enterprise thrive side by side, where urban energy flows into rural beauty, and where people come to live, visit, explore and grow.
Supporting Businesses and the Visitor Economy
At the heart of the new website is an enhanced Business Directory featuring more than 500 businesses, with free listings available ongoing to consumer-facing businesses across Perth and Kinross.
Retailers, cafés, restaurants, takeaways, attractions and other bricks-and-mortar businesses can manage their own profiles through a simple online system, ensuring information remains accurate and up to date.
The site also includes a significantly improved events section, allowing businesses and organisations to upload and manage their own events, creating a dynamic and constantly refreshed what's-on guide.
This centralised approach avoids duplicated content, improves search performance and provides visitors with a better experience when planning trips and days out. It also gives businesses greater control over how they are promoted.
To further amplify local businesses, the Perth City and Towns team will actively drive traffic to the website through its social media channels and a mailing list of more than 24,000 subscribers, helping businesses reach wider audiences and encouraging repeat encouraging people to stay longer and spend more across Perth and Kinross.
Built for the Future
Consumer behaviour is changing rapidly. Increasingly, people are using search engines, AI-powered tools and voice assistants to plan and discover new places and experiences.
The new website has been structured around clear destination themes, evergreen content and a central business directory, improving visibility on Google and making information easier for AI tools to understand and recommend.
The website also features a new AI assistant – Bonnie – who will help visitors plan their day trip, short break and holiday, using the vast database of content available on the website.
By reducing duplicate content and creating stronger destination pages and itineraries, the platform provides a richer digital experience and strengthens Perth and Kinross's online presence.
A Partnership Built in Perth and Kinross
The website has been delivered through a collaboration between Perth-based communications and place marketing agency Red String Ltd, and web development specialists, Inspire Digital.
Together, the two companies have created a platform that supports tourism, strengthens local businesses, and helps tell the story of one of Scotland's most distinctive regions.
