The Angel’s Share Promoting Investment in Business
Over 2026, the focus for The Angel’s Share is clear: to support more Perth and Kinross businesses to secure funding, accelerate their growth and create high-quality local jobs. By strengthening links between investors and companies across key sectors, the programme aims to unlock new opportunities and help businesses realise their full potential.
Finlay Kerr of Raising Expert, the organisation contracted to deliver The Angel’s Share, commented, “Angel investment is not just about capital. It brings expertise, networks and confidence that can be transformational for early-stage and scaling businesses.
“Through The Angel’s Share programme, PKC is building a stronger local investment ecosystem by ensuring that ambitious businesses can access the backing they need without leaving the region.”
The February event demonstrated that appetite from both investors and businesses remains high, with two standout pitches showcasing the diversity and ambition of Perth and Kinross enterprises.
Ballintaggart: scaling a nationally recognised food destination
Ballintaggart presented a compelling vision to investors, building on its success as a premium food-led destination in Highland Perthshire. Already recognised for its immersive hospitality offering, the business has grown from a boutique base into a multi-faceted brand encompassing dining experiences, accommodation, retail and events.
At its core, Ballintaggart combines high-quality Scottish produce with personalised guest experiences, attracting visitors from across the UK and internationally. The business supports more than 50 independent producers annually and has developed a strong reputation for quality, provenance and innovation.
The pitch focused on the next stage of growth: transforming Ballintaggart from a successful regional business into a national platform within Scottish hospitality. Investment will enable expansion of accommodation, enhanced event facilities and increased capacity to meet growing demand, particularly in the weddings and experiential tourism market, where current constraints are limiting growth.
With a clear five-year plan, strong brand positioning and proven demand, Ballintaggart is seeking to unlock scalable growth while continuing to champion Scotland’s food and drink sector.
Chris Rowley, co-owner, commented, "We’ve created something truly distinctive with Ballintaggart - and we’re now ready to scale the business even further. The next chapter will see us elevating Ballintaggart into a nationally recognised platform for Scottish produce, where exceptional food, provenance and immersive experiences come together in a way that feels both modern and deeply rooted in Scotland."
Tara Taxi: rethinking local transport through technology
Tara Taxi aims to transform how local taxi and private hire services operate.
Rather than competing directly with existing ride-hailing platforms, Tara is developing a coordinated network that brings together licensed drivers and operators within a single, transparent system. Its model focuses on fairness, regulatory alignment and improved visibility across the transport ecosystem.
The pitch highlighted key challenges within the current system, including fragmented demand, inconsistent availability and a lack of real-time data for both operators and councils. Tara’s solution addresses these issues by creating a neutral coordination layer that improves reliability for passengers while supporting more stable earnings for drivers.
Importantly, the platform is designed around principles of transparency and trust that remove surge pricing, avoid algorithmic manipulation and work within existing regulatory frameworks. Early engagement with drivers, operators and local authorities has demonstrated interest, with plans to scale across multiple council areas.
With a significant UK market opportunity and a clear phased rollout strategy, Tara Taxi is positioning itself as infrastructure for the future of local transport.
