Perth & Kinross Council is committed to improving digital connectivity across Perth & Kinross. It is keen to boost mobile networks working in partnership with national Governments and the telecoms industry.

The Council has recently approved a new Telecommunications Policy Statement (see link) and is one of the DCMS sponsored Digital Connectivity Infrastructure Accelerator (DCIA) pilots.

The Council has a Single Point of Contact (SPOC) for the telecoms industry and is happy to talk to any suppliers wishing to deploy both macro or micro cells or densify networks in our area.

To accelerate the deployment of our assets (buildings, street lights, other street furniture) they are all digitally mapped online via the following platform http://www.sitenna.com. To gain access to this platform please get in touch with the (SPOC), details below.

PKC have a set of standard template leases for macro and micro cells for land and buildings that the Council will use to hasten the lease these assets to telecom companies. The assets are available here https://infralink.scottishfuturestrust.org.uk/toolkit/standard-documents

There is a streamlined process that the Council will work to when dealing with telecom companies who wish to utilise the Council’s assets (see link) and, it will operate this as swiftly and efficiently as possible.

Whilst the Council is not responsible for mobile network deployment, as an enabler, we see it as essential that our citizens and communities have the best possible digital connectivity no matter where they live. In future, our economy and society will depend even more than now on universal access to the internet for the delivery of goods and to gain access to services for everyday life.
